Our “Kyoto” Collection is inspired by the Kyoto Zen Gozan temples with the intricate wood carvings of the Saiho-ji to the Muromachi period design found all throughout Kyoto where art of all kinds—architecture, literature, poetry, the tea ceremony, landscape gardening, and flower arranging—all flourished during Muromachi times.
All Ferran original signature patterns are hand painted : hand drawn in our New York City studio and printed on cottons and linens in the USA and all Ferran products are made to order in our New York workroom.
SAKIORI PRINT
The “Sakiori” print is inspired by and named for the Japanese art of weaving cotton kimono scraps. We started with painting each color and piecing the strips together to create the pattern and colorways. Printed on 100% Belgian Linen.
MISAKI PRINT
The "Misaki" Print which refers to "beautiful blossom" in Japanese is a hand-painted climbing vine floral typically found in the mountainous region of western Japan. Printed on 50%Linen/ 50% Cotton.
HANA & NATSUMI PRINTS
Our "Hana" (flower) and "Natsumi" (beautiful summer) printed on 100% Cotton sateen.
SHOJI PRINT
Our Shoji print is symbolic of the Muromachi period architecture and the Kyoto Zen Gozan temples with the intricate wood carvings of the Saiho-ji.
